FootnoteNZ announce General Manager
FootnoteNZ are thrilled to announce Richard Aindow as their new General Manager.
Chairman of the Footnote Dance Trust Board, Ross Tanner, said that Aindow had been appointed from a strong field of candidates. The Board is keenly anticipating the launch of the new FootnoteNZ venture in 2014.
Richard Aindow is a well-known Wellington figure as he comes to FootnoteNZ from four years as General Manager and Editor of Wellington’s FishHead magazine. He is a passionate leader of the Arts and is actively engaged as a movie reviewer and cultural critic (FishHead and Newstalk ZB). Richard Aindow will begin as General Manager of FootnoteNZ in January 2014.
FootnoteNZ has developed out of the legendary Footnote Dance and has four key pillars of activity – Professional Development, Partnerships, New Zealand Repertoire and International Programmes. It is an exciting new development with a business-driven model led by a General Manager. While continuing to employ a core company of dancers, FootnoteNZ will implement the vision of the new business model, working with choreographers who submit their own dance projects and aiming to continue and strengthen their international policy of returning kiwi choreographic talent.
The first FootnoteNZ season, Straight Laced, will be staged at BATS Theatre as part of the New Zealand Fringe Festival and will follow intensive workshop Choreolab in January 2014. Performed by the new ChoreoCo initiative, the guest choreographer for this project will be Craig Bary – one of our most renowned exports coming home. ChoreoCo is a short term contracted company of emerging dancers who will be selected during Choreolab and aims to give graduates and freelance dancers a work opportunity as they grapple with the very challenging environment that exists as they emerge into the contemporary dance industry.
FootnoteNZ is a new direction for the future – led by Richard Aindow.
