Sebastian grew up in Melbourne, Australia, and first discovered his passion for dance at a young age at the Utassy Ballet School, under the mentorship of Sue and Kevin Heyes. In 2013 he was accepted into the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School where he furthered his studies in dance. During his time in Melbourne, Sebastian also danced as a member of the Yellow Wheel Youth Dance Company under the directorship of Adam Wheeler, where his keen passion for contemporary dance manifested, leading to his move to Wellington in 2016 to study at the New Zealand School of Dance as a contemporary major.
In 2017 during his second year of training, Sebastian toured alongside Taki Rua’s production of Tiki Taane Mahuta as a dancer on their national debut. In 2018 he performed Christina Chan’s and Aymeric Bichon’s duet Midlight as a guest at the Singapore Dance Academy’s 50th Anniversary Gala, and later that year also worked with the New Zealand Dance Company in their European Time tour. In his first year out as a graduate in 2019, Sebastian directed his own full-length work Flying Down Sand Dunes (Winner of the Parkin Development Award) as part of the Wellington Fringe Festival.
