Rosie Tapsell (Ngāti Whakaue, Te Arawa) grew up in Auckland. She studied Theatre and Religious Studies at Victoria University of Wellington before completing her degree in contemporary dance at Unitec in 2016. She first had the privilege of working with Footnote New Zealand Dance in 2017 on their ChoreoCo season of ‘The Dark Light’ by Alexa Wilson. As a freelancer her performance highlights have included dancing with Atamira Dance Company in Kelly Nash’s Atamira (2017) and Louise Potiki-Bryant’s Onepū (2018), collaborating with Kate Parker and Auckland Theatre Company on The Wild Seed Thief (2017), performing in Extra Ordinary Folk (2018) by Claire O’Neil and Fidget Collective, dancing as a member of Dance Plant Collective for Tui Hofmann’s work MEAT (2018), working with Olive Bieringa on The Body Cartography Project’s felt room (2018) and more recently working with Kerstin Kussmaul on The Matter of Fascia (2019). Rosie is over-the-moon to be joining the Footnote team, and is excited for the journey ahead.
